About Seville

Seville is the capital of southern Spain’s Andalusia region, on the banks of the Guadalquivir River. It’s famous for flamenco dancing, particularly in its Triana neighborhood. Major landmarks include the ornate Alcázar castle complex, built during the Moorish Almohad dynasty, and the 18th-century Plaza de Toros de la Maestranza bullring. The Gothic Seville Cathedral is the site of Christopher Columbus’s tomb and a minaret turned bell tower, the Giralda.

The streets and squares in the historic quarter of the city are lively and busy. Visitors can enjoy tapas on numerous open-air terraces, in bars and restaurants. The weather is clement and warm, even in winter.
